The Premier Drought Smart mix is formulated to resist damage from chafer grub root feeding but without microclover. This mix is composed of new generation turf type tall fescue and Chantilly creeping red fescue. Tall fescue has the deepest roots of all the cool season turfgrass species and studies have shown it resists damage from chafer grub feedings better than other species. Tall fescue can thin out over time so the Chantilly creeping red fescue helps by growing laterally to spread and fill in the gaps.
